Benefits of a Doula

While there is never a guarantee that a birth will go exactly as planned, research shows that using a trained labor support person may result in (1):

- Reduced medical interventions

- Lowered chance of cesarean section

- Reduced use of epidurals and other pain medications

- Enhanced maternal-infant bonding

- Shorter labors

- Fewer complications

- A more positive view of the birth experience, even if things did not go as planned
